Credit Card Orders with different Billing and Shipping Addresses:    

Billing address and shipping address must match.  If your billing and shipping addresses do not match, you will need to call us (240-298-7239) to confirm the shipping address is valid.  Furthermore, if the shipping address is different from your billing address, you will need to ensure the shipping address is listed with your credit card company as an authorized shipping address.

Purchasing and Picking up from Cromwell’s Firearms:

If you purchase from us and you choose credit card payment, your payment will be accepted immediately upon placing the order.   If you choose to pay by USPS Money Order/cashier’s check or any other form of check, we are required to wait the 3-5 business days for clearing of said check.  If we have the item on hand in our own inventory, the item will ship within 1-2 business days.  If the item is in stock with our supplier(s), we place orders with our suppliers Mon-Fri each week and they ship promptly (1-2 business days for handguns and 3-4 business days for rifles, provided they are in stock), then we fill the order for you.  When your purchase is in our inventory, if you are local to us, we will contact you to let you know it is I, then you can come pick up your item/start the paperwork process.

Maryland Residents:  (where we are located):  

Regulated firearms (i.e., handguns) require a seven-day wait period after you complete the initial paperwork.  For everything else; its cash and carry after an instantaneous background check conducted with an ATF Form 4473.

If you have multiple regulated firearms and are not a Maryland designated collector, there is a waiting period of 30 days between regulated firearms transfers and therefore, all individual regulated firearms must be processed individually on their own paperwork.  There is an exception to this MD law and it is if you purchase a matched set or a dealer’s special for multiple firearms, then we can process on the same paperwork, but there will be a 60 day or more wait before you can accept transfer of another handgun.

If you are buying a handgun that has been manufactured after 1 January 1985 (older handguns are excluded from the MD Handgun Roster requirement), and once it is determined the handgun is on the roster (see http://www.mdsp.org/) it may be purchased.   If the handgun is new, it must also come with an expended shell casing certified from the manufacturer.

Non-Maryland Residents:  You must comply with the laws of your state of residence; each state is a bit different than others.  Check with your local FFL to determine if there are any laws restricting your purchase and if there is a waiting period before picking up your gun. 

Handgun Qualification License (HQL) Requirement for MD Residents:

Unless otherwise exempt, as of October 1, 2013, a Maryland resident must possess a valid Handgun Qualification License before he/she may purchase, rent, or receive a handgun. Details on exemptions may be found below. You do not need a Handgun Qualification License to own a gun you already haveYou do not need a Handgun Qualification License for the purchase of an un-regulated firearm.  The Handgun Qualification License is only needed for purchasing, transferring, or renting a regulated firearm (handgun) after October 1, 2013.

Exceptions to the Required HQL (i.e., never need an HQL):

1.     A Licensed Firearms Manufacturer.

2.     Active law enforcement officer or a person retired in good standing from a law enforcement agency of the United States, the State, or a local law enforcement agency of the State.

3.     Active or retired member of the United States Armed Forces or National Guard and possesses a valid military identification card.

4.     A person purchasing, renting or receiving an antique, curio or relic as defined in federal law.

5.     Maryland licensed firearms dealers.

Three-day Inspection Period:
Once the firearm was confirmed to be at the dealer location, whether at our location or at your FFL of choosing location, please INSPECT THE FIREARM THOROUGHLY to make sure it is exactly what you ordered and that there are no defects with the firearm. If there are any problems whatsoever, DO NOT ACCEPT THE TRANSFER !! You will have three days to report the problem.  If we determine the problem was our fault, we will gladly have the firearm picked up and returned to us at our expense and provide you with your choice of a replacement or full refund.  If the firearm was damaged in shipping, we will take appropriate action and replace the firearm.

Once you accept transfer, the gun is considered used and must be returned directly to the manufacturer for warranty repair or replacement. Any returns to Cromwell’s Firearms AFTER accepting transfer from your dealer that were not specifically authorized by us will be subject to a 15% restock fee, no exceptions.
